dc.description.abstract | Hypertension is a circulatory system disorder that causes blood pressure to increase above normal, namely, systolic > 140 mmHg and diastolic > 90 mmHg. Hypertension can be at risk of causing morbidity and increasing high mortality rates and affecting a person's quality of life and productivity. Data from the Health Office of North Sumatra in 2015 recorded hypertension sufferers in January-October 2015 reaching 151,939. Based on Basic Health Research Data shows that the prevalence of hypertension in North Sumatra Province is 29.19%. This figure is quite high and dangerous if not addressed immediately. Many factors can increase the risk or tendency of a person to suffer from hypertension, including obesity, stress, excessive salt consumption, lifestyle, smoking, alcohol consumption, and so on, the family has an important role in efforts to improve health and reduce the risk of hypertension in the community. The purpose of this senior practitioner is to apply nursing theories and concepts in managing and providing nursing care to families with hypertension. Nursing care was carried out on June 29, 2022 – July 23, 2022 for two families with hypertension by helping families recognize family health problems by providing health education about hypertension, educating families in making decisions, caring for families by providing modality therapy, modifying the environment, and helping families in using health facilities. The results obtained after the intervention, the family was able to carry out 5 family tasks well. It is recommended for families to be able to care for family members with hypertension | en_US |
