Production planning is an activity about determining what and how many
products to be manufactured by a company in the next period. PT. Samudera
Sawit Nabati (PT. SSN) has been operating based on the availability of raw
materials, allowing idle capacity as the raw materials are over the standard
number. Moreover, the company often faces the situation of discrepancy between
the production quantity and the demand volume of CPO. This research aims to
determine the optimal production quantity of CPO in order to minimize the
company’s loss. Optimization of the CPO production is done by using Goal
Programming method and the model completion is performed with the support of
Linear Interactive Discrete Optimizer (LINDO). The objective function of the
model is based on the goals to be achieved by PT. SSN, i.e. to fulfil the demand
volume of CPO, to minimize the production cost of CPO, to minimize the
purchase cost of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) and to maximize the number of FFB to
be processed. The result of this research is the optimal production quantity of
CPO for the period of January 2015 – December 2015 as follows : 1.378.725 kg;
1.278.488 kg; 1.187.206 kg; 1.305.031 kg; 1.182.804 kg; 1.669.808 kg; 1.812.246
kg; 1.930.818 kg; 1.943.660 kg; 1.713.568 kg; 1.225.277 kg and 1.090.549 kg.
The total production cost of CPO by 2015 has succeeded to be minimized, i.e. Rp
173.094.672.980,00. The total purchase cost of FFB by 2015 has succeeded to be
minimized, i.e. Rp 160.588.254.730,00. The number of FFB to be processed into
CPO has succeeded to be maximized, i.e. 93.854.950 kg.
