User Datagram Protocol (UDP) has a smaller delay characteristic of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to transmit data packets because UDP does not use the confirmation packet (acknowledgment). This causes the UDP is preferred for the application of real-time video delivery. However, UDP packet loss experienced higher than TCP, UDP-Lite fix by reducing the number of UDP packet drop through the use of partial checksum. With partial checksum, not all of the bit error causing packet drop. However, the checksum on UDP-Lite header where the error occurs can potentially increase the value of packet loss. This thesis proposes changes to the UDP- Lite by inserting Forward Error Correction (FEC) with a Hamming code to protect the checksum field in the UDP-Lite header, so the potential for packet loss caused by an error in the header can be reduced, so the quality of real-time video delivery with UDP-Lite can be better. Evaluations are conducted by the Network Simulator (NS-2) showed improvement of 8.54% packet loss for UDP-Lite and 9.16% improvements error for UDP-Lite with the FEC.
