    Abstract
The purpose of this research is to obtain monitoring system and pH data recording system based on microcontroller Arduino Mega 2560 and to obtain a Human Machine Interface (HMI) that is suitable for monitoring the pH from the process of conversing POME into biogas on a laboratory scale using Arduino and LabVIEW software. This study is consisted of two stages, which is: the hardware design and software design. At the hardware design, microcontroller Arduino Mega 2560 is connected with fermenter and a laptop / PC. The software design is consisted of designing HMI at the LabVIEW program. The results indicated that the components that are suitable for monitoring the process of conversing POME are the microcontroller Arduino Mega 2560, pH sensor data acquisition module and 5 volt power source, as well as a pH probe sensor. For HMI design using LabVIEW 2014 is in accordance with the needs with the graphic display of pH condition in real time from a fermenter and the data logger was automatically stored in the Microsoft Excel. After completing the design of HMI, sensor that is used is calibrated to obtained a linear equation of analog data versus pH data from buffer solutions so that the first equation can be inputted into the program Arduino which is pH = 4.9578×V and the second equation is pH = 4.9883×V. Afterward, the research was conducted for 3 days with a variation of data taking distance 1, 5, and 10 seconds. This research result shows that experiment data is appropriate with secondary data until the 81th hour which then the pH probe sensor needs to be cleaned frequently with at least a 50oC hot water and continued with recalibration.
