| dc.description.abstract | Empty Fruit Bunch Composting with activated organic (AOF) fertilizer is an
alternative to utilize solid waste disposed from the palm oil mill. This research
was to study the composting technique for shredded EFB and to collect the
degradation data during composting of shredded EFB with during turning
frequency in order to get a high quality compost. The composting process with put
shredded EFB into composter and then followed by the addition of OAF until the
optimum moisture content of 55-65% was reached. During the composting, the
MC was kept on the optimum condition by adding the AOF. The variations of
turning frequency were without turning, once in 3 days, and once in 5 days. The
parameters of temperature, MC, pH value, bacterial count, electrical conductivity
(EC), C/N ratio and the quality of compost were analyzed throught the process.
The outcome from this research proved that the turning frequency affected the
composting process and the compost was produced around 40 days. The best
degradation result of EFB was obtained for the once in 3 daysturning which pH
8,7; MC 68,5%, WHC 52% , EC 1620 µS/cm and C/N ratio 19,68. | en_US |
