dc.description.abstract | The type of failure which usually occurs in reinforced concrete structure
caused by the change in .function of the construction or by the decrease in
construction capacity is the failure in shear stress. However, to add the amount of
reinforcement into the structure for increasing the capacity of shear stress is very
difficult; therefore, a certain method is done by increasing the strength in the exterior
of the structure.
The case discussed in the thesis was about the strengthening of the beam
which underwent shear fracture by using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP ).
The initial testing was performed by giving the ultimate load power of 80% and
observed the down buckling, the strain, and the .fracture pattern. To find out the
increase in the load carried by the beam, the beam was strengthened by CFRP plate
and minimum power was given so that the beam would collapse.
The result of the experiment on sample I (the distance ofCFRP was 75 mm
with 4 lines) showed that the increase in the capacity of the section was 271%, on
sample II (the distance of CFRP was I 00 mm with 3 lines) showed that the increase
was 229%, and on sample III (the distance of CFRP was 150 mm with 2 lines)
showed that the increase was 186%. Meanwhile, the result of the analysis on the
sample I showed that the increase in the capacity of the section was 267%, on sample
II showed that the increase was 216%, and on sample Ill showed that the increase
was 163%. | en_US |
