Penggunaan Biosorben Biji Pepaya Sebagai Penjerap Zat Warna Methyl Orange, Methyl Violet dan Methyl Red
Abstract
Biosorbent is a highly porosis material in which the adsorption process takes
place on the pore wall or occurs in a particular region within the particle. Biosorbent
from papaya seeds is used to adsorb textile dye such as methyl orange, methyl violet
and methyl red. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of adsorption
time and biosorbent mass on dye adsorption. This research used papaya seed as raw
material. As much as 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 g papaya seed biosorbent were mixed into 20
mL dye solution respectively. The solution was stirred using a magnetic stirrer on
hot plate for 20, 30 and 40 minutes. The best results was obtained for methyl violet
with the highest adsorption capacity at 9.547 mg/g.
