Methanogenesis process is the final process of anaerobic digestion second
stage to produce biogas as the final product. This study aimed to obtain the effect
of variation Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT) and the stirring rate and to get the
best conditions in the process of methanogenesis with raw materials VFA effluent
results of the previous stage in the process asidogenesis atmospheric
circumstances. The process of loading-up is done by varying HRT then the target
operating performed by varying the stirring rate fermenter Continuous Stirred
Tank Reactor (CSTR), the rate of stirring 250; 200; 150 and 100 rpm with pH
kept constant in the range of 6.8 to 7.6. Analysis solids (TS, VS, TSS and VSS),
and COD conducted to assess changes in organic compounds degraded into
biogas. The highest biogas yield achieved on stirring rate of 200 rpm variations in
the amount of 172.05 L / Kg ΔCOD.day with concentration of methane (CH4),
carbon dioxide (CO2) and trace hydrogen sulfide (H2S) respectively by 88.3%, 11
, 7% and 0.0013%. VS degradation and COD removal respectively by 50.62% and
49.10%
