    Abstract
Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is one of the major oil traded in the world and a rich source of α-tocopherol. The content of tocopherol and tocotrienol in CPO is range of 600 -1000 ppm. This study aimed to get the best conditions, to get the isoterm models, and the kinetic models of the adsorption process of α-tocopherol from CPO using tea waste activated carbon. The materials used were CPO and the tea waste activated carbon that activator of H3PO4 and carbonized at 500 oC. The measured parameters for activated carbon were the surface area, ash content, and volatile matter content, and for the adsorption process were the initial concentration, the final concentration, and the amount of α-tocopherol that adsorbed by tea waste activated carbon. The adsorption processes were conducted at the mass ratio of activated carbon to CPO were 1:3; 1:4; 1:5; and 1:6 at temperature of 40 oC and the variation of the rate of agitation of 140, 160, and 180 rpm. The concentration of α-tocopherol was analysed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The results of this study showed that the percentation of adsorption was greater at the higher agitation rate and in the lower ratio of tea waste activated carbon to CPO. In this study, the greatest percentage of the adsorption was 84,42% that achieved at the ratio of 1:3 and the rate of agitation of 180 rpm. While the maximum capacity of adsorbat was 1,0973 mg/gram that achieved at the ratio 1:6 and the rate of agitation of 180 rpm. The appropriate kinetics model of the adsorption of α-tocopherol was the pseudo-second order model with the correlation coefficient of 0,9934 and the isotherm model of the adsorption of α tocopherol was the Langmuir isotherm model with the correlation coefficient of 0,927
