Discriminant analysis is one of statistical technique that can be used on the
dependency relationship (intervariable relationship which can be distinguished
where the response variable and where the explanatory variables).
Discriminant analysis of assumption required in the data must be multivariate
normal distribution. Use of discriminant analysis in this study aims to
determine the variables that determine student ranking at SMA Negeri 12
Medan. By using discriminant analysis of research project shows that there
are 4 (four) variables including Motivation to learn (X1), How to Learn (X2),
Creativity of teacher in the teaching in learning process (X3), and family
environment (X4). The four most dominant factors affecting students
ranking is creativity of teacher (X3), family environment (X4). The models
generated using discriminant analysis to test the accuracy of the classification
has a percentage rate of 62,5 %.
