Pengaruh Faktor Individu Bidan dan Organisasi terhadap Pelaksanaan Inisiasi Menyusu Dini di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah DR. Pirngadi Medan

Abstract

Early Breastfeeding Initiation is the process of allowing a baby to take milk at the breast by itself after it is born. Early Breastfeeding Initiation is done by putting the baby on its mother's breast after its body has been cleaned with clean cloth and its back is covered with a blanket. Then, let the baby finds its mother's breast within an hour after it is born. Early Breastfeeding Initiation plays a very important role in decreasing infant mortality rate although there are still many mothers who still do not carry out Early Breastfeeding Initiation. On this occasion, health workers play a very important role in the implementation of Early Breastfeeding Initiation. There are about 40% of newborn babies who are treated with Early Breastfeeding Initiation at RSUD (Regional General Hospital) dr. Pirngadi, Medan. The aim of the research was to analyze the influence of midwives individually and organization on the implementation of Early Breastfeeding Initiation at RSUD dr. Pirngadi, Medan. The type of the research was a survey, using explanatory research method. The population was all 41 midwives who were on duty in the maternity wards and in the neonatal wards at RSUD dr. Pirngadi, Medan. The data were gathered by distributing questionnaires and analyzed by using multiple logistic regression analysis. The result of the research showed that the factors of knowledge (p=0.026, OR=15,224) and skills (p=0.020, OR=10,995) directly influenced the implementation of Early Breastfeeding Initiation. While the organization factor (p=0.092, OR=5,123) indirectly influenced the implementation of Early Breastfeeding Initiation. It is recommended to the RSUD dr. Pirngadi, Medan to create a policy granting increases breast milk in the early implementation of the early breastfeeding initiation, should increase the ability of midwives through training, socialize the importance of Early Breastfeeding Initiation. For midwives, increase their knowledge and skills in the implementation of Early Breastfeeding Initiation.
