dc.description.abstract | The phorous ceramics based on zeolite and ash of hush of paddies had been fabricated and characterized. Both substances were pulverized and sieved with a 100 mesh. The variations of composition were 100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, and 50:50 ( in % mass dough). Each dough was added 50 ml of PVA as a glue, pressed at 25 Kgf/cm² and sintered for 5 minutes, then dried within an oven at 60 °C for 24 hours. Based on results, it was found that best phorous ceramics based on zeolite and ash of hush of paddies with composition of 70 % of zeolite and 30 % of ash of hush of paddies under the temperature sintering of 1000 °C. With this composition, some physical properties were characterized as following: density of 1,91 g/cm³, porosity of 43,69 %, lessened burn of 21,12 %, bending strength of 13,65 MPa, compressive strength of 13,79 Mpa and thermal expansion coefficient (α) of 5 x 10-6°C-1. The phorous ceramics based on zeolite and ash of hush of paddies has a major phase of mullite ( orthorhombic crystalline structure ) and a minor phase of trydimite ( monoclinic crystalline structure ) according to XRD analysis. Based on the SEM analysis, phorous ceramics based on zeolite and ash of hush of paddies has uneven surface of particle distribution with the size of 1 – 10 μm | en_US |
