Hypertension is a silent killer disease which is commonly found; when it occurs continuously, it can kill its patients. The changing in patients' behavior is caused by their understanding their knowledge, self efficacy, and self regulation. Their changing in behavior should be followed up by providing education for them. The objective was to find out the influence of education in handling blood pressure on self care capabilities in hypertension patients in the Hemodialysis Unit. The research was quasi experimental with nonequivalent pre-post test with control group. The samples were 64 respondents (32 respondents in the intervention group and 32 respondents in the control group), taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzedby using Wilcoxon Sign Rank test and Mann Whitney test. The result of the research showed that there was the influence of knowledge, self efficacy, and self regulation about salt intake on handling blood pressure before and after the treatment in the intervention group (p=0.00) and control group (p=0.00). Self care capabilities after the treatment between control group and intervention group with no influence of knowledge of handling blood pressure after the treatnent in the intervention group and the cintrol group (p=0.71); there was the influence of self efficacy and self regulation about salt intake on handling blood pressure after the treatment between the intervention group and the control group (p=0.00). The conclusion was that there was the influence of self care capabilities about knowledge, self efficacy, and self regulation on handling blood pressure in hypertension patients in the Hemodialysis Unit. It is recommended that the hospital management establish Standard Operational Procedure of education in handling blood pressure as the reference for nurses in providing health education and motivating self efficacy and self regulation for patients in order to increase their life quality.en_US
