This study aims to determine trends in scientific publication topics for lecturers of the Library and Information Science at the Universitas Sumatera Utara using co-words analysis. The research method applied is through a quantitative approach based on descriptive methods. Determining the subject with aid of the Library Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and grouping topics using Hawkins Taxonomy. Co-words analysis was carried out with a combination of matches between subject document to see the similarity relationship between subject documents. The unit analysis is the scientific publication of lecturers of the USU Library and Information Science Study Program in 1996-2021 which totaling 171 documents. The results showed that from 171 documents of 699 subjects were obtained with an average of 4 subjects per document, with the most subject is Academic Libraries by 68 subjects (9,73%). Based on 11 topics of Hawkins Taxonomy, the three most published scientific topic for USU Library and Information Science Study Program Lecturers are Libraries and Library Services (LIS) by 260 subjects (37,20%); Information Technologies (IT) by 108 subjects (15,45%); and Applied Sciences and Subject Specific by 82 subjects (11,17). The fewest topics are The Information Industry (TII) with 6 subjects (0,86). There were also 20 subjects (3,15%) on the topic lecturers scientific publications outside the Library and Information Science fields.
