This study aims to find out how the bale is made and what meanings are contained in the bale in the Malay community in Celawan Village, Pantai Cermin Serdang Bedagai District. This study uses folklore and semiotics, folklore is related to the making of a bale while semiotics is used to determine the meaning contained in the bale in the wedding ceremony of the Malay community in Celawan Village, Pantai Cermin Serdang Bedagai District. The semiotics used is based on Pierce's opinion based on icons, indexes, and the symbol. The basic research method used is descriptive qualitative research method. The methods used in collecting data are observation, interviews and documentation. After describing and analyzing the data on the meaning contained in the bale, the results of this research are the stages of making the bale, namely shopping at the market to buy food and decoration ingredients, cooking, making decorations and decorating the bale. The meaning contained in the bale is a sign of greatness for being proud of our environment wherever it is. Togetherness maintains an honorable relationship, protects one another, and it is the hope that those who marry will get good children or offspring, pious and pious and generosity of sustenance so that they will be happy in building a household. After describing and analyzing the data on the meaning of the bale, the results of the research contained in the bale in the Pantai Cermin Malay community are that the bale is an object that has artistic value, traditional values and cultural values and the bale is a symbol of greatness at Malay weddings.
