Chinese in Medan City had a long history journey in Medan’s development, so that it needed
an effort to perpetuate and preserve them. According to Medan Central Statistic Board 2010,
the Chinese were the third largest population in Medan – about 10.65 % after Javanese dan
Tobanese. Because of that, the existence of culture riches need to be preserved so that it won’t
be forgotten period by period.
As we keep in mind that Medan City was one of the international tourist destination, it needed
a museum – as said before – dedicated Medan’s mulitcultural life, especially Chinese people.
What is expected by the designing of the museum, it’ll become Medan’s landmark, support
local tourism or city center region, and also as a place to documentate in the same manner as
the function of cultural museum itself. Besides that, it could enabled the citizen and local or
international tourist to know more about Chinese culture in Medan.
