Background: Cholelithiasis is a common disease in the community. However, these cases often appear asymptomatic, so many patients are charged to the hospital after complications appear. Cholelithiasis is the crystallization of the constituent bile salt components in the gallbladder. Objectives: To find out and describe the characteristics of outpatients and inpatients with cholelithiasis cases at the Universitas Sumatera Utara Hospital in 2021. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional research design. The sampling technique used is called "total sampling." The sample contains 201 patients in total. The method of data collection in this study is secondary data in the form of medical records. data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Results: Most of the cholelithiasis sufferers were women (58.71%). The average age of the patients was 45 years. Outpatient treatment was the most frequent type of care for 177 patients (81.17%). The most frequent treatment for patients was non-operative for 110 people (54.73%). The location of the most frequent problem in patients was intraluminal gallbladder in 76 people (37.81%). In most patients, there was no significant increase in serum cholesterol and bilirubin levels, but it was possible that there was a relationship between the increase in those metabolic profiles and the incidence of cholelithiasis. Conclusion: Cholelithiasis is one of the most common digestive system diseases. In the future, continuous research on cholelithiasis will be needed.
