Cassava stems had potential as feed ingredients containing 21.5% cellulose, 12% hemicellulose and 23% lignin as a source of fiber for livestock. The purpose of this study was to design and build a cassava stem chopper for animal feed, to obtain tool performance values including: effective capacity of the tool, fuel consumption, percentage of chopped material, percentage of material that was not chopped, percentage of material left in the tool, percentage missing material, yield and perform economic analysis of cassava stem chopper for animal feed. The results showed that the dimensions of the tool were 113 cm x 50 cm x 69 cm with a tool frame used an angled iron with a thickness of 4 mm. The engine used 7.5 hp of power, 3000 rpm engine speed and gasoline. The effective capacity of the tool was 18.332 kg/hour. The equipment fuel consumption was 1.0885 l/hour. The percentage of material that was chopped by the tool was 37.3%. The percentage of materials that were not chopped by the tool was 18.8%. The percentage of material left in the tool was 39.3%. The percentage of missing material was 4.5%. The yield on the tool was 56.2%. The basic cost of Rp. 174.12/kg for the first year to the fifth year. The value of the Break Even Point (BEP) on the tool was 1,103.18 kg/year. The 4.5% Net Present Value (NPV) was Rp. 25,358,576.8/year and Net Present Value (NPV) of 6% was Rp. 24,086,321.44/year.
