Rancang Bangun Alat Pemecah Buah Pala (Myristica Fragrans) Mekanis

Abstract

Nutmeg is a leading export commodity in Indonesia. To meet export needs, the role of the community and government is needed to increase the productivity of nutmeg by utilizing the use of more efficient agricultural technology, by using a mechanical nutmeg crusher using a Rotor and Thressher. The use of this tool can facilitate the solving to be more efficient, because in general, nutmeg farmers still use the traditional method, namely using a kitchen knife to split the nutmeg, and by using a lot of human power so that the nutmeg is broken more optimally. This tool is designed into two parts, there is a breaker and a separator. Both of them are used as a process to break the nutmeg and separate the flesh and seeds of the nutmeg, with a total length of 67 cm, a width of 47 cm, and a height of 100 cm. The results show the average effective capacity of the tool is 398,988 kg/hour. The average value of split fruit during the splitting process was 53.4%, 12.1% unsplit fruit, 10% remaining fruit split, and 14.06% whole seeds, with an average loss or number of nutmeg wasted in the cleavage process was 10.43%. The nutmeg crusher and separator between the flesh and seeds will reach the break-even point or BEP if it has split the nutmeg as much as 3.047,35 kg/year, and meets the criteria for use or profitable because the resulting NPV value > 0 is Rp. 1.389.417.843,85/year at an interest rate of 6% and Rp. 1.253.651.569,472/year at 10% interest rate. With the IRR value on this tool is 50,92%.
