    Abstract
Background. Fracture is a public health problem worldwide. The most common fractures of the upper limb were the distal radius and ulna (16.2 fractures per 10,000 persons), fractures of the hand bones (phalangeal and metacarpal; 12.5 and 8.4 per 10,000 persons), and fractures of the humerus (6.0 per 10,000 persons). The incidence of humerus fractures, proximal, shaft and distal fractures, has increased over time. This was shown by a study from Germany, namely in people over 35 years of age there was an increase in the incidence of proximal humerus fractures from 40,839 in 2002 to 59,545 in 2017. Objectives. Knowing the characteristics of patients with humeral fractures at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital in 2020-2021. Method. The research was conducted using a descriptive method and a cross-sectional study approach, with a total sample of 85 people, which was secondary data in the form of medical records taken using a total sampling method. All data is then processed and analyzed using the SPSS application. Results. It was found that the most common event occurred in men (61.2%). The most common age group was adults 26-42 years (21.2%). The most common type of fracture was a closed fracture (89.4%). The majority of fractures occurred proximal (41.2%). The most frequent complications were late complications (22.4%). ORIF (74.1%) was the most frequently performed treatment. Patients came seeking clinical help most often after 2 weeks (64.7%). Conclusion. Most of the patients with humeral fractures at HAM Hospital are men who belong to the adult age group with traumatic causes and in the proximal part, most patients come after 2 weeks and are treated with the ORIF method.
