dc.description.abstractBackground. Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea is a chronic and reccurent pain, that clinical manifestations are menstrual cramps or painful periods, usually in the pelvic or lower abdominal, and also can be experienced as low back pain that accompanied by other menstrual symptoms. According to some researches, 90% of women suffer with dysmenorrhea but usually the pain will pass within the hours and they take it as a normal condition, with the result that a least of people come down to medical faculty for treatment. Some people with dysmenorrhea use pain reliever drugs and traditional medicine to get rid of the pain without seeking professional advice. This describes the importance knowledge of women about dysmenorrhea. Objectives. Knowing the level of knowledge about dysmenorrhea in female students of STIKes Sehat Medan. Methods. This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. The research sample were 68 female students of STIKes Sehat Medan class 2021/2022 who met the inclusion criteria and selected by simple random sampling. Data collection was acquired using a questionnaire. Results. Majority of respondents are female students in the age group of 20 (40,6%) and female students that received information resources from health workers (39,1%). The knowledge level of female students of STIKes Sehat Medan class 2021/2022 obtained 88,4% with good knowledge and 11,6% with fair knowledge. Conclusion. Overall, the knowledge level of female students of STIKes Sehat Medan class 2021/2022 are on good level. Based on age, female students with good knowledge are the age group of 20. Based on information resources, female students with good knowledge are the female students that received information resources from health workers.en_US
