Background. Stroke is a major cause of death and disability in many countries with an estimated 6.5 million deaths each year. Indonesia ranked first in the list of highest number of stroke sufferers in Asia. One thing that can be done to prevent stroke is to control stroke risk factors. For this reason, it is necessary to know how to prevent stroke. Objective. Knowing the relationship between the level of factors used in stroke research at RS USU Medan. Method. The method used in this research is analytic method with cross sectional design. This study uses primary data taken through questionnaires and direct measurement with purposive sampling technique and will be analyzed using a statistical application program. Result. Of the 115 samples, the majority of respondents had moderate risk factors (51.3%) and sufficient knowledge (44.3%). The result of bivariate analysis showed that there is a correlation between the level of risk factors and criteria for knowledge of stroke (p=0.001). Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between the level of risk factors and the criterie for knowledge of stroke at the RS USU Medan.
