Background. Glycemic control is a glucose control and is the standard of management of type-1 DM patients to prevent risk factors from occurring in the future. Controlling risk factors is a good option in preventing complications. Children with Type-1 DM from low-income families and low socioeconomic status rarely control their glycemic status. Objective. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the socio-economic status of the family to the glycemic control of children with type-1 DM. Methods. This type of research is in the form of analytical research with a cross-sectional design, using primary data in the form of questionnaires and secondary data in the form of medical records. The study samples were children with DM Type-1 and their parents at the Endocrinology polyclinic of the Department of Pediatrics, RSUP H. Adam Malik in Medan with the sampling technique being consecutive sampling. Results. Of the 22 study samples of children with Type-1 DM who met the inclusion criteria, it was found that the glycemic control picture was not good (77.3%) and good (22.7%), although almost all children routinely came to the hospital every month to the hospital (90.9%) and all children had HbA1c levels checked every 3 months (100%). From the bivariate analysis test, there were no significant relationship between father's occupation (p=0.415), mother's occupation (p=0.225), family income (p=0.638) and home-to-health facility distance (p=0.157) with glycemic control of children with Type-1 DM. Conclusion. There was no a significant relationship between the socio-economic status of the family and the glycemic control of children with Type-1 DM.
