Perilaku Penggunaan Kondom pada Orang dengan HIV/AIDS (Odha) dalam Mencegah HIV/AIDS kepada Pasangannya di Kota Medan

Abstract

Background. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that infects and replicates the cellular immune system that has hitherto been a major global health problem. In 2020, did not achieve the targets for UNAIDS set by PBB and the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Condoms are prevention of sexual transmission of HIV and the presence of PLWHA shows a negative attitude towards condom use Objective. This study to identify how the behaviorof condom use in PLWHA to prevent HIV/AIDS in their partners in Medan City.. Method. This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. The population in this study is PLWHA which has a partner in the city of Medan. Data collection was carried out online by filling out questionnaires on the level of knowledge on HIV/AIDS and condoms, availability of condoms, couple support for PLWHA in condom use, actions of condom use on PLWHA by 100 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Samples were taken by snowball sampling technique.Results. Of the total respondents analyzed, most respondents had good knowledge about HIV/AIDS and condoms (70%), PLWHA who had a good attitude towards condoms (64%), condom availability (64%), partner support for PLWHA in condom use (85%), and always used condoms (56%). Conclusion. The behavior of PLWHA in Medan City regarding the use of condoms is good, specifically having good knowledge about HIV/AIDS and condoms, good attitude of PLWHA towards condoms,the availability of condoms, the support of couples for PLWHA, and always using condoms when going to have sexual intercourse.
