Gambaran Tingkat Pengetahuan dan Pemilihan Pengobatan Ketombe pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sumatera Utara Angkatan 2019 Sampai 2021

Abstract

Background. Dandruff is a scalp disorder characterized by abnormal peeling of the scalp. There are three main causes that cause dandruff, namely Malassezia fungus, sebaceous gland secretion, and individual sensitivity. Various kinds of treatment have been widely done to overcome the problem of dandruff. Aim. To determine the level of knowledge and selection of dandruff treatment in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Class of 2019 to 2021. Methods. This study is descriptive by using the method of cross-sectional study approach. The study sample was students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, class of 2019 to 2021. Data collection using questionnaires distributed online via Google form and QR Code. Results. Students have good knowledge about dandruff (92.1%). Based on the selection of dandruff treatment, sources of information obtained through electronic media (84.2%), where to buy drugs in supermarkets/malls (72.6%), how to choose dandruff treatment using only shampoo (63.7%), dandruff treatment selection factors because it is easy to get (71.1%), the reason for the selection of dandruff treatment because the content contained in the shampoo is very good (58.4%), the ingredients selected in the selection of dandruff treatment using natural ingredients and chemicals (51.1%). Conclusion. The level of knowledge of students is good about dandruff. Based on the selection of dandruff treatment, the source of information that most respondents get through electronic media, where respondents buy the most drugs in supermarkets / malls, the way respondents in choosing dandruff treatment most only use shampoo, dandruff treatment selection factors most respondents because it is easy to get, the reason for the selection of dandruff treatment most respondents because the content contained in the shampoo is very good, the material chosen by respondents in the selection of dandruff treatment most use natural ingredients and chemicals.
