This study aims to determine the effect of weather, travel time and number of cattle loads on body weight during transportation. Research conducted at PT. (Lembu Andalas Langkat), located in Kwala Begumit, Stabat District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. The research method is a survey and multiple linear regression analysis. Data was taken from December 2021 to January 2022.
The results of research observations, the average rainfall of 297.32 mm is in the low category. Travel time takes an average of 96 hours with a distance of 1,640 km and an average speed of 68.3 km/hour. The capacity of the truck transporting cattle during the trip is 20 cows with a body weight of 400-500 kg. The average body weight of the cattle before being transported was 431.59 kg and after being transported was 426.34 kg, meaning that the weight loss was 5 kg with a percentage of 1.23%.
Weather factors affect body weight at temperature variable 0.808 and humidity 1.096. Travel time affects body weight with an initial weight variable value of -2.008 and a final weight variable value of 2.303. The capacity affects the body weight of 25 birds per transport. The results of the analysis show that in the weather T test the value of tcount < ttable, it can be concluded that the hypothesis is rejected, meaning that there is no effect between temperature and humidity on the heat stress index. In the T test, there is a positive influence between the final weight variable and the long haul trip. Whereas in the transport T test it was concluded that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, so the initial weight and final weight were not the same or significantly different.
