dc.description.abstractMechanical potato planting tools can save costs, planting time compared to manual planting methods and are very useful for the potato planting process. This study aimsed to design and build a mechanical potato planting device. This research was conducted in June-July 2022 at the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. The parameters observed in this study were the Effective Capacity of the Tool, the Effectiveness of the Tool, and Economic Analysis. The results of the study show that the effective capacity of a mechanical potato planter with a speed of 25 meters/minute in row 1, row 2, row 3 with a land size of 3 m × 40 m takes 0.085 hours or 0.142 ha/hour. The average spacing in row 1 is 24.07 cm, row 2 is 24.24 cm, row 3 is 24.04 cm, the main cost of a mechanical potato planter is IDR 2,556.46/Ha.en_US
