dc.description.abstractPotatoes are one of the foods that can be processed into various types. There are still many home industries using manual tools where the products are limited. The purpose of this research are design and manufacture and potato cutters mechanical test. The method used in this study are design and quantitative method. This mechanical potato cutter driven by a 0.5 HP electric motor. The results of the research shown that type flat, wavy, and matchstick have effective capacity are 138 kg/hour, 183 kg/hour and 88,27 kg/hour. For the resulting yield are capacity 85.6%; 81.8% and 82.8%. other, the percentage of material not perfectly cut 2.9%; 4.8% and by 1.1%. The results of the economic analysis obtained the basic cost of cutting potatoes each year are Rp.33,72/kg with a fixed cost of Rp.1.150,000/year and a variable cost of Rp.8,563.12/hour. One other the break even point on this tool are Rp.2,625,870 kg/year, the NPV value > 0 and the internal rate of return (IRR) are 42,65%.en_US
