Background: Allergic Rhinitis is a common disease which is a type of inflammation that occurs in the nose as a result of the human body's immune system overreacting to allergens in the air. Allergic rhinitis is commonly characterized by main symptoms such as (1) pruritus, (2) sneezing, (3) rhinorrhea, (4) nasal congestion. According to the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) states that allergic rhinitis affects 10% - 30% of the world's population. In Indonesia, the prevalence of allergic rhinitis reaches 1.5% - 12.4% and tends to increase every year. In addition, allergic rhinitis can result in decreased sleep quality in sufferers. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between allergic rhinitis and sleep quality of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
