    Abstract
Background: Allergic Rhinitis is a common disease which is a type of inflammation that occurs in the nose as a result of the human body's immune system overreacting to allergens in the air. Allergic rhinitis is commonly characterized by main symptoms such as (1) pruritus, (2) sneezing, (3) rhinorrhea, (4) nasal congestion. According to the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) states that allergic rhinitis affects 10% - 30% of the world's population. In Indonesia, the prevalence of allergic rhinitis reaches 1.5% - 12.4% and tends to increase every year. In addition, allergic rhinitis can result in decreased sleep quality in sufferers. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between allergic rhinitis and sleep quality of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Research Method: This study used a descriptive analytic research method with a cross-sectional study design. The sample was selected using a non-probability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling with a sample size of 96 people. This study was conducted using the Score For Allergic Rhinitis (SFAR) questionnaire survey and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. Results: The results of this study found that the majority of respondents who had poor sleep quality were diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, namely as many as 39 people (75.0%) and the majority of respondents who were male were diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, namely as many as 29 people (55.8 %). The results of data analysis using the Spearman Correlation Test between two variables, namely Allergic Rhinitis and Quality of sleep and both are not correlated. Conclusion : There is a very weak relationship between sleep quality and allergic rhinitis.
