Background. Dandruff or Pityriasis capitis is among of the most common skin conditions accounting almost half of the global general population. Many of Indonesia's population have experienced dandruff caused by Indonesia's hot and humid tropical climate. The severity of dandruff is affected by age, especially during puberty and around the age of 20. Aim. This research aims to determine the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara’s students level of understanding on Pityriasis capitis. Methods. This study is descriptive research, with cross-sectional research design. Faculty of Medicine students, Universitas Sumatera Utara class of 2019 and 2020 and were the sample in this research and taken using proportionate stratified random sampling. Results. The knowledge level of the Faculty of Medicine students, Universitas Sumatera Utara about Pityriasis capitis is classified as good with a total of 59 people (59%) having good knowledge, 33 people having sufficient knowledge (33%), and lacking knowledge as many as 8 people (8%). Conclusion. In general, students at the University Sumatera Utara's Faculty of Medicine have a good understanding of Pityriasis capitis
