dc.description.abstract | Background: Stroke is the second highest cause of death and the third highest cause of disability in the world. Strokes are classified into two, namely ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Ischemic stroke is caused by blockage of thrombus or embolus in a blood vessel that disturb the vascularization in the brain. Characteristics, clinical features, and routine blood analysis in ischemic stroke patients are different for each patient. Aim: To determine patient's characteristics, clinical features, and routine blood analysis of ischemic stroke at H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan in 2021. Methods: Descriptive study with cross sectional research design. The data was collected from the medical record section at H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan from June 2022 to September 2022 that met the inclusion criteria and did not meet the exclusion criteria. Results: A total of 102 ischemic stroke patients were found in the most age group 55-64 years 32 (31.4%) patients, male gender 61 (59.8%) patients, the last education level was graduated from high school 64 (62.7%), risk factors was hypertension 39 (29.0%), clinical sign of hemiparesis 72 (57.60%) with routine blood analysis of normal hb levels 67 (65.7%), normal ht levels 47 (48.0%), thrombocytosis 48 (47.1%) and normal leukocytes levels 88 (86.3%) patients. Conclusion: Demographic characteristics of patients that are often found in this study were patients aged 55-64 years, male sex, and the last education level was graduated from high school. The most common risk factors are hypertension and clinical sign of hemiparesis. In this study normal Hb, Ht, and leukocyte levels were found along with thrombocytosis. | en_US |
