dc.description.abstractBackground. Stress is a state of tension either psychologically or physiologically due to stimuli, responses and interactions that can be detrimental. In an academic environment, stress is an experience that is often experienced by students. One of the factors that can affect student academic achievement is stress. This is due to the many academic demands that must be faced, for example exams, assignments, and so forth. A number of researchers have found that students who experience stress will tend to show decreased academic ability. Aim. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between stress levels and the achievement index of students at the Faculty of Medicine. Method. This study used a cross-sectional research design which was conducted in September 2022. The size of the research subjects was 100 respondents. Retrieval of stress data using the MSSQ (Medical Student Stressor Questionnaire) and GPA documentation data. Result. The results showed that the stress level of students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra was moderate (52%) and the level of academic achievement of students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra was mostly good (67%). Then the data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test p=<0.001 (P <0.05) which states that there is a significant relationship. Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between stress levels and student academic achievementen_US
