dc.description.abstractBackground Menstruation is bleeding from the uterus that occurs periodically and cyclically, this is due to the release (desquamation) of the endometrium due to ovarian hormones (estrogen and progesterone) decreased, especially progesterone, at the end of the ovarian cycle, usually starting about 14 days after ovulation. Menstrual disorders can be influenced one of them by nutritional status. BMI (body mass index) is one measure to predict the percentage of fat in the human body. BMI is also closely related to nutritional status . Objectives The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body mass index and menstrual cycle in adolescent girls in MAN1 Medan in 2022. Methods This study used total sampling technique. Body mass index (BMI) Data is measured through body anthropometry by measuring body weight in kilograms and height in centimeters. BMI data is processed according to the formula for measuring body mass index according to age and differentiated into categories of thin, normal and fat. Result Data acquisition between Body Mass Index and menstrual cycle in adolescent girls in MAN 1 Medan is p = 0.293. Conclutions There is no relationship between Body Mass Index and menstrual cycle in adolescent girls in MAN 1 Medan with p value = 0.293 and there is a very weak correlation with r value = 0.059.en_US
