Hubungan Aktivitas Fisik dengan Kualitas Hidup Pasien Hemodialisis Reguler di Rumah Sakit Khusus Ginjal Rasyida Medan

Abstract

Background. Hemodialysis (HD) is one of the renal replacement therapies in renal failure patients. The long process of HD can affect every aspect of life and lead to a decrease in the quality of life. Patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy had lower levels of physical activity than inactive healthy individuals. Decline in physical function and strength can affect the ability to carry out daily activities, thus impacting the quality of life. Objectives. To determine the relationship between physical activity and the quality of life of hemodialysis patients at the Rumah Sakit Khusus Ginjal Rasyida Medan. Method. This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional study design of 50 respondents who underwent hemodialysis therapy at the Rumah Sakit Khusus Ginjal Rasyida Medan. Physical activity assessment using Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) and quality of life assessment using SF 36 questionnaire. Result. Hemodialysis patients at the Rumah Sakit Khusus Ginjal Rasyida Medan who have a good quality of life (72.00%) and a poor quality of life (28.00%). The physical activity level of hemodialysis patients is moderate (48.00%), high (26.00%), and low (26.00%). Based on bivariate analysis, variables related to quality of life were obtained, namely physical activity (p = 0.007) and comorbidities (p = 0.024). Multivariate analysis showed that quality of life was influenced by physical activity with RP = 4.429 (CI : 1.383 – 14.191). Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between physical activity and quality of life in hemodialysis patients at the Rumah Sakit Khusus Ginjal Rasyida Medan.
