Background. Chronic rhinosinusitis is defined as an inflammation in the mucous cavities of the paranasal sinuses lasting more than 12 weeks with symptoms of nasal congestion and 1 or more facial pain or decreased olfactory function. Chronic rhinosinusitis is a common disease and affects 5% to 12% in the general population, but there are no definite figures regarding the incidence of CRS in Indonesia. CRS also has an impact on the patient's quality of life Aim. To determine the characteristics of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital in 2019. Methods. This research is descriptive with a cross-sectional design, data collected through medical records in total sampling with a total sample of 51 patients. Results. The results showed that of the 51 patients, the highest frequency distribution of chronic rhinosinusitis patients was found based on the age group, mostly 26-45 years, 17 patients (33.3%), based on gender, mostly women, 28 patients (54.9%), based on work, mostly housewives as many as 9 patients (17.7%), based on risk factors, mostly allergies, 23 patients (45.1%), based on major symptoms, mostly nasal congestion, 48 patients (94.1%) and minor symptoms, mostly headache, 13 patients (25.5%), based on the location of the affected sinus, mostly the maxillary sinus, 24 patients (47%), based on the number of affected sinuses, mostly multisinusitis, 14 patients (27.5%), and based on medical management, 38 patients (76.5%). Conclusion. Chronic rhinosinusitis is more often found in the adult age group, female gender, housewives, allergic risk factors, main complaints of nasal congestion and headache, maxillary sinus location, multisinusitis, and medical therapy.
