dc.description.abstract | Background: Back pain is the most common pain experienced in the world with prevalence reaching 80%. Porter is one of the most frequent work experiences in back pain. Based on its location, back pain could be separated by neck pain, upper back pain, and lower back pain. Aim. This study aims to determine the prevalence and characteristics of back pain experienced by porters at Pasar Induk Lau Cih, Tuntungan, Medan. Methods. This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design, where data collection is done once at a time. Sampling used the total sampling method, where all porters became respondents. The data used are primary data taking a questionnaire and physical examination. This study is using univariate analysis. Results. This study involved 30 respondents. The prevalence of back pain in the porters is 57.6% with the most regions that porters experience being in the lower back (94.1%), followed by the neck (52.9%), and upper back (41.2%). The porters that have lower motor neuron lesions are 20%. Conclusion. The majority of porter suffer from back pain with most areas being in the lower back. | en_US |
