dc.description.abstract | Introduction. The increasing incidence of COVID-19 cases from the beginning of its spread causes concern for the public. Various efforts are made to reduce the number of spreading, one of which is the use of vaccines. The administration of the COVID-19 vaccine aims to increase the body's immunity. mRNA vaccine is one of the types of COVID-19 vaccines given to the public. A few months after its administration, a number of women report changes in their menstrual cycle. However, data related to the prevalence of menstrual cycle irregularities after vaccines in Indonesia are still limited. Purpose. Knowing the prevalence of menstrual cycle irregularities after receiving the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine in the 2019 and 2020 preclinical students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra. Method. This research applied descriptive research study with cross-sectional approach using primary data. Data are obtained through the distribution of questionnaires using online forms. The sampling technique used is proportionate stratified random sampling. Results. In 13 people (16.9%) who reported a change in the menstrual cycle after the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, was found that the change occurred ≥1 month after the vaccine. The prevalence of samples that experienced menstrual cycle irregularities after receiving the vaccine by looking at menstrual cycle variations was 16 people (20.8%). After receiving the vaccination, the cycle span outside the normal category was found in 12 people (15.6%), the duration of bleeding outside the normal category was found in 1 person (1.3%), and the bleeding volume outside the normal category was 2 people (2.6%). Conclusion. There were 16 people (20.8%) who experienced menstrual cycle irregularities after receiving the mRNA type COVID-19 vaccine. | en_US |
