Evaluasi Efek Ekstrak Daun Jambu Biji (Psidium Guajava L.) terhadap Pertumbuhan Rambut pada Kelinci Normal

Abstract

Background. Hair loss is one of the disorders of the scalp and hair that is a serious problem for both men and women. One of the therapies to overcome hair loss is to use herbal hair growers. Guava leaves have antioxidant effects that are believed to prevent hair loss and stimulate hair growth. Aim. This study aims to determine the effect of using guava leaf extract on hair growth in rabbits. Methods. Guava Leaf Ethanol Extract is formulated in cream dosage form with a concentration of 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. Cream preparations are given daily for 3 weeks on the shaved back area of the rabbit. Observations were made by looking at hair length growth at weeks 1, 2, and 3 and hair weight at week 3. The data obtained was then analyzed statistikally using the ANOVA method. Result. Hair length growth on day 7 with the greatest order F3 (8.54 ± 3.46 mm) > F2 (8.36 ± 3.39 mm) > F1 (5.78 ± 2.88 mm) > F0 (4.97 ± 2.27 mm). Significant differences in groups F2 and F0 (p=0.037) and F3 and F0 (p=0.025). Hair weights on day 21 with the largest order F2 (0,0299 ± 0.0099 g) > F3 (0.0244 ± 0.0067 g) > F1 (0.0200 ± 0.0083 g) > F0 (0.0142 ± 0.0026 g). There are no significant differences between groups. Conclusion. Ethanol extract of guava leaves promotes normal rabbit hair growth and volume.
