| dc.description.abstract | Documentation constitutes an important part in nursing practice. One of the ways to improve the quality of nursing service is by improving the quality of nursing documentation even though it is still ignored in its implementation. The objective of the research was to analyze the correlation of nurses' characteristics, knowledge, and work load with nursing care documentation. The research used correlation design; it was conducted at RSU Herna Medan. The population was 104 nurse practitioners, and 50 of them were used as the samples, using Lemeshow formula and stratified random sampling technique. The result of the research showed that 56% of the respondents were 20 to 30 years old, 68% of them were D-III Nursing graduates, 52% of them had the length of service of more than five years, 60% of them had good knowledge, 94% of them had appropriate work load, and 70% had incomplete nursing documentation. The result of chi square statistic test showed that there was the correlation between age and nursing documentation at p value = 0.035, there was no correlation between education and nursing documentation at p value = 0.929, there was the correlation between length of service and nursing documentation at p value = 0.019, and there was no correlation between work load and nursing documentation at p value = 0.89. The variable of knowledge had the most significant correlation with nursing documentation at p value = 0.027 and the value of coefficient regression β 1.906 and the value of Exp (β) 6. 727. In order to improve nursing care documentation, it is necessary to improve the nurses' knowledge of nursing documentation by conducting seminars and training, giving reward to nurses who perform good documentation and punishment to nurses who did not perform documentation. | en_US |
