Hermit crab or hermit crab is an animal of the Krustase group and the order Decapoda which is unique in terms of behavior that uses certain Gastropod shells to carry out its life. Hermit crab species have an intrinsic preference that allows hermit crabs to judge the suitability of the shell by its architecture and size. The purpose of this study was to determine the preferences of the type of shell and the type of hermit crab found in the Mangrove Ecosystem of Sei Tuan Indah Beach, Labu Beach Regency. This research was carried out in March 2022 with qualitative descriptive research methods. The results showed that there are 3 types of hermit crabs found in the mangrove ecosystem of Sei Tuan Indah beach, Labu Beach District, namely Caenobita perlatus, Clibanarius longitarsus and Clibanarius symmetricus, small hermit crabs use Gastropod shells of Cerithidea and Littoraria types, while hermit crabs with larger sizes use Ellobium, Fusinus, Murex, Nassarius, Natica, Nerita, Telescopium, and Turritella type shell. The percentage of gastropod shell types that hermit crabs use the most are Cerithidea and Turitella type shellsen_US
