Background : Alloxan tetratrydrate generates free radicals and highet reactive
oxidative species production (SOR), which can lead to reduced insulin secretion
from pancreatic p cells and decreased insulin receptor sensitivity in insulin-
receptor cells resulting in hyperglycemia conditions. Ethanol Exfact Bean Fruit
can reduce oxidative stress. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect
of ethanol extract of beans on the decrease of blood sugar level, increase of
superoxide dismutase enzyme activity and histopathology of allokan-induced
altered wistar pancreas.
Method : This research is an exprimental research. The posttest only control
group design ffidy, using rat (Rattus norvegicus) strains of wistar, w{ls
randomized in five groups: negative control, psitive conftol, ethanol extract of
200rng / kgbb, 400mg / kgbb, 600mg / kgbb.
Results : This study showed a significant reduction in blood sugar levels when
compared with the control group. Superoxide dismutase enzyme activity increased
but was not statistically signifrcant. Observation of pancreatic histopathology
showed a change in diarneter in the group receiving ethanol extract of beans.
Conclusion : From the result of this study there was no significant difference to
the decrease in blood cadital blood of male wistar ruts (Rattus Norvegicas) when
compared with positive controls but statisticallly decreased blood sugar levels of
male wistar ruts (Rattus Norvegicus) there was a significant difference
