dc.description.abstract | The research was conducted to see the ffict of variations of Water Level
Maragement and Steel Slag Application on Peat Chemical Properties in relation
to weight of roots of oil palm plantatiow. The research used split plot designwith
two foctors, the first factor (main plot) was water levels tnanogement were WI,
W2, W3, and the second factors (sub plot) was dosages of steel slag application
were A0, Al, A2, and A3. The research was conducted tn the area of palm oil
(6 yems olQ rJnit Panai Jaya, PT PTPN [V, Central Panai, Labuhan Batu,
North Sumatra. The soil sampling conducted at two places, in the palm oil disc
with depth of 0-15 and I5-30 cm; outer palm oil disc at depth of 0-30 cm. Thefirst
observations in thefirst 3 montla afier application of steel slag, steel slag showed
that the pH of the soil and the affect of the total nitrogen in the soil to a depth of
0-15 cm in the palm oil disc. While the combination of water level management
and application of steel slag only affect of the total niffogen in the soil to a depth
of 15-30 cm in the palm oil disc. The second observation at 6 montla afier the
application of steel slag, showed that the management of water levels can affect
the wailable of phosphorus in the soil to a depth of 0-30 cm outer palm oil disc
and increase production fresh fruit bunch (FFB) of palm oil. Application of steel
slag only affects of total nitrogen in the soil outside of the dish with a depth of
0-30 cm. While th.e combination of water level management and application of
steel slag influence the weight of tertiary root dry in the disc with a depth of
0-15 cm and the outside of tlrc dtsh to a depth of 0-30 cm, total dry weight of the
roots to the outside of the dishwith 0-30 cm, the soil pH of the soil outside of the
disc a depth of 0-30 cm and nailable phosphorus in the soil outstde of the disc
with a depth of 0-30 cm | en_US |
