Avocado seed is one part of the avocado that is rarely used and is considered as
waste. Avocado seeds have a high content of starch compounds so they can be
used as raw materials for products, one of which is dextrin products. Dextrin is a
modified starch product that is often used in the chemical, food and
pharmaceutical industries. The need for dextrin continues to increase every year
as can be seen from the value of imports in Indonesia, so that dextrin has great
opportunities in the industrial world. The pre-designed factory for making dextrin
from avocado seeds will use a hydrolysis process catalyzed by α-amylase
enzymes. This factory is designed with a production capacity of 8,200 tons/year
and operates for 330 days a year. The factory location is planned in Ciampel
District, Karawang Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia with the required
land area of 12,408 m2. The business entity form of this factory is planned as a
Limited Liability Company (PT) with line and staff organizational forms, and a
workforce of 131 people. The results of the pre-designed economic analysis of the
factory for making dextrin from avocado seeds are as follows:
Total Investment Capital = Rp 274.891.875.873
Total Production Cost = Rp 274.644.998.338
Sales Proceeds = Rp 370.902.630.996
Net Profit = Rp 67.098.441.147
Profit Margin (PM) = 25,822 %
Break Even Point (BEP) = 48,115 %
Return On Investment (ROI) = 24,409 %
Pay Out Time (POT) = 4,10 years
Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 31,841 %
Based on the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the factory
for making dextrin from avocado seeds is feasible to establish.
