    Perbandingan Disolusi, Efek Iritasi dan Antiinflamasi Indometasin pada Kapsul Alginat dengan Kapsul Gelatin

    Abstract
    The purpose of this research was to compare the dissolution profile, irritation and antiinflammatory effects of indomethacin on alginate capsules with gelatin capsules. Alginate capsule was divided into two types, i.e. shell type and matrix type. The dissolution of indomethacin was determined by paddle method and the concentrations of indomethacin was analysed spectrophotometrically. The antiinflammatory and initation effects were investigated using male rats. The irritation test was performed by opening the rat's stomach and intestine after 6 and 12 hours of dosing capsules containing indomethacin and the initation was observed by using a stereo microscope, the inflammatory was observed by using pletysmometer. The dissolution of indomethacin in gelatin capsules in the medium of pH 1.0; pH 4.5; pH 7.2 and changes pH medium was faster than that of alginate shell and matrix; and the dissolution of indomethacin in alginate shell was faster than of alginate matrix. Antiinflammatory effect of indomethacin in gelatin capsules was stronger than that of in alginate capsules. Antiinflammatory effect of indomethacin in alginate shell was no statiscally different with indomethacin in alginate matrix. Indomethacin in gelatin capsules caused irritations in the stomach of the rats tested but no irritation on the intestine. However, indomethacin in alginate capsules and alginate matrix didn't caused irritation in the stomach and intestine of the rats tested.
