dc.description.abstract | Background. Coffee consumption is related to daily activities and the trend of coffee consumption is rising in varous age gropus. Coffee have a stimulating effect on humans due to their caffeine content. Caffeine is a pharmacologically active substance so that the habit of consuming excessive caffeine can have an impact on varous women’s health problems, one of which is menstrual cycle irregularity. Aim. In order to determine the relationship between coffee consumption and menstrual cycle in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Methods. This is an analytic observasional study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was female students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Class of 2019-2021 using Total Sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire in the form of a google form. 85 samples were obtained in this study that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria Result. From the chi-square correlation test, the p value was 0.750 which indicated that there was no relationship between coffee consumption and menstrual cycle. Conclusion. From this study it can be concluded that there is no relationship between coffee consumption and menstrual cycle in female students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, class of 2019-2021 | en_US |
