Background. Nutritional status is the body's health status resulting from the balance between nutritional needs and inputs. Academic achievement is one of the parameters needed to assess the attainment of the teaching-learning process. During adolescence, brain maturation occurs, which affects cognitive abilities. The fulfilment of nutritional needs is related to nutritional status and will affect brain maturation and learning achievement. Objective. This study aims to assess the relationship between nutritional status and students' academic achievement in SMP Markus Medan. Methods. The research was analytic observational with a crosssectional study approach. The research sample was the Markus Medan Junior High School students who had met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection technique was proportional stratified random sampling. The data types are primary data in the form of identity, weight, and height and secondary data in the report card. The data were then analyzed using the SPSS computer program. Results. The study found that the majority of the students, 43 (70.5%), had normal nutritional status, and no students had severe thinness nutritional status. The results of statistical calculations with the Spearman correlation test obtained a value of p = 0.099. Conclusions. There was no significant relationship between nutritional status and students' academic achievement at Markus Medan Junior High School.en_US
