Karakteristik Pasien Kanker Payudara yang Menjalani Radioterapi di RSUP. H. Adam Malik Medan Tahun 2020-2021

Abstract

Background. Breast cancer is a type of cancer that can affect anyone, both women and men. Breast cancer grows in the mammary glands, fat tissue, or in the connective tissue of the breast. So far, breast cancer is still a frightening specter, especially in women. Radiation therapy could be applied as treatment for breast cancer patients at almost every stage. Objective. To identifying the indications of someone with breast cancer undergoing radiotherapy based on BMI, histopathological classification, history of breastfeeding, history of previous therapy, clinical stage, and age. Method. The following research applied a descriptive research design with the observation method and was carried out in total sampling applying secondary data derived from patient medical record data. Results. The output of the research were conducted on 43 breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. The nutritional status of the majority of patients was normal nutritional status of 21 people (48.8%), the majority of patients had histopathological features of invasive ductal carcinoma of 32 people (74.4%), patients with a history of breastfeeding suffered more breast cancer is 41 people (95.3%), The majority of previous therapies applying chemotherapy were 42 (59.4%), most patients were in stage IIB as many as 18 people (41,9%), the most frequently encountered patients were the early elderly age group of 17 people (39.5%). Conclusion. Most of the characteristics of breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan during 2020- 2021 are with normal nutritional status, histopathological type of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, have a history of breastfeeding, previous therapies which is of chemotherapy, are at stage IIB, age group early elderly.
