dc.description.abstractBackground. Basic Life Support (BLS) is a skill that must be owned by everyone, especially medical students. The existence of the COVID-19 pandemic has made Basic Life Support practices more complicated due to close contact which puts helpers at risk of contracting COVID-19. Objective. This study aims to see the level of knowledge of students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra regarding BLS during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with a survey design using an online questionnaire with a sample of students from the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra, class of 2019. Results. In this study, it was found that the level of knowledge of students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra class of 2019 regarding BLS during the COVID-19 pandemic was sufficient. For female respondents, there were 22 respondents with good knowledge (14.7%), 53 respondents (35.3%) with sufficient knowledge, and 15 respondents (10%) with less knowledge. For male respondents, there were 4 respondents with good knowledge (2.7%), 35 respondents (23.3%) with sufficient knowledge, and 21 respondents (14%) with less knowledge. Of the respondents who had a history of participating in BLS training, 12 respondents (8%) had good knowledge, 36 respondents (24%) had sufficient knowledge, and 5 respondents (3.3%) had poor knowledge. For respondents without a history of BLS training, 14 respondents (9.3%) had good knowledge, 52 respondents (34.7%) had sufficient knowledge, and 31 respondents (20.7%) had poor knowledge.Conclusion. The knowledge level of USU Faculty of Medicine students class of 2019 regarding BLS during the COVID-19 pandemic as a whole was categorized as sufficient.en_US
