dc.description.abstract | Background. Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA), also known as stroke, is the third
leading cause of morbidity and mortality in many developed countries. CVA is
divided into 2, namely ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Stroke is a top
public health priority at this time. The cornerstone of effective stroke treatment
continues to be timely reperfusion treatment. This requires early recognition of
symptoms by the public and the first patient to have a stroke. Aim. Knowing the
profile of stroke patients treated in ICU Haji Adam Malik General Hospital Medan
2019-2021. Method. This research is a descriptive method with a cross-sectional
retrospective research approach, using data originating from medical records with
the aim of examining the profile of ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke patients
treated in the ICU at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital Medan 2019-2021.
Results. There were 16 ischemic stroke patients and 44 hemorrhagic stroke
patients. The majority of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients are in the early
and late elderly (37.5%), with the percentage of male sex (1: 1), education level at
high school (> 50%), with farmers and entrepreneurs (> 30 %), living outside the
city of Medan (> 40%), married family status (> 60%), normal BMI category
(40%), has a history of hypertension, with a history of cardiovascular and
endocrine diseases, the location of the lesion in the telencephalon and ventricle ,
the main complaint was decreased consciousness and headache, and the length of
stay was less than 5 days (70.5%). Conclusion. In several groups, the variables in
this study were consistent with other studies, but there were several groups that
differed, such as gender, BMI and the location of the lesions because these
variables were heavily influenced by internal and external factors. | en_US |
