Efektifitas Pemberian Ekstrak Bawang Batak (Allium Chinense G.Don) dalam Penurunan Kadar Kolesterol Total Tikus dengan Diet Tinggi Lemak
Abstract
Background. High cholesterol blood level corresponds with several complication risks such as stroke and heart attack that can lead to death. Allium chinense extract proved to have anticholesterol activity. Aim. This study aims to assess the effectivity of Allium chinense extract to decrease total cholesterol in mice with high-fat-diet model. Methods. Experimental models with in-vivo true experiment pretest-posttest with control group are chosen as the design of this research. A total of 30 mice as research subjects (6 as a backup group) were randomized into 4 groups. Mice’s total cholesterol was counted using a cholesterol meter with blood sample from the tail. Result. There are significant reductions of total cholesterol levels (p ≤ 0,005) in K2, K3, and K4 groups. A significant difference was also displayed using analysis of variance one-way ANOVA for each group (day-3: p = 0,027, F[3,20] = 3,754; day-5: p = 0,0001, F[3,20] = 81,209; day-7: p = 0,0001, F[3,20] = 151,244). Conclusion. Allium chinense extract has the effectivity to reduce total cholesterol in mice with high-fat-diet models.
